Frequently Asked Questions

If you don't see the answer you're looking for, reach out to georgia@abbycare.org and we'll get back to you in a flash.

Georgia Medicaid allows eligible parents and family members to be paid caregivers for their child through the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP) under the Family Caregiver Option for Personal Support Services.

Abby Care is a licensed home care provider that employs and supports family caregivers once services are approved. If your loved one qualifies, you can be paid for providing approved personal care services in your home, while remaining your child’s primary caregiver.

Not every family qualifies, and approval is based on medical need and state authorization. We help guide families through that process.

Eligibility is determined by the state and depends on factors like your loved one’s diagnosis, daily care needs, and physician documentation. Abby Care works with families to help assess eligibility and coordinate the required steps, but final approval always comes from Georgia Medicaid.

The best way to find out is to fill out an interest form on our website so you can speak with our team directly.

In Georgia, Abby Care supports families through Personal Support Services (PSS) under GAPP’s Family Caregiver Option.

These services focus on daily, hands-on care needs, such as assistance with activities of daily living and routine support, provided by a trained family caregiver. Abby Care handles employment, training, compliance, and ongoing support so families can focus on care.

This program does not replace skilled nursing or therapy services when those are needed.

Getting started involves a few steps, including eligibility review, documentation, state authorization, and caregiver onboarding. While the process can take time, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Abby Care supports families throughout by helping coordinate paperwork, training, and next steps once services are approved.

If you’re interested, the first step is to submit an interest form so we can learn more about your family and guide you appropriately.
